Charity Golf Day for Emma

Sunday 4th July 2010 saw Hoebridge Golf Centre, part of the Burhill Golf and Leisure Group, hold their second Charity Pro-Am and raise just under £1300.00 in aid of Emma’s Bubble Trust, a charity set up in memory of Emma Louise Brandon, from Ashtead, who tragically died of cancer shortly after her 16th birthday.
Very warm conditions greeted the 10 teams, made up of one professional and three amateurs, as they took up their starting positions on Hoebridge’s superb par-3 Maybury course.
The Maybury Course, with holes ranging from 72 to 182 yards, running through woodland and over hills, proved a real challenge for all the players.
The team of Wes Cooper (Hoebridge Golf Centre), Sarah Mugridge, son Josh (15) and daughter Hollie (12), proved triumphant with a score of 93 (15-under-par) Three teams tied for 2nd place on 99 (10-under-par) with the team of Laurence of Pawley, Max O’Hagan (12), Andy Sandison and Vic Cooper winning on count back, followed by the team of Chris Hebdon, James Deadman, Mike O’Connell (Hoebridge Golf Centre’s General Manager) and Mikey Baralic in third place. Laurence Pawley collected the individual winners prize with a gross score of 55, one-over-par.
Adrian Wratting, Hoebridge Golf Centre Assistant General Manager, said: “It was a fantastic day and our thanks go to all those who sponsored the day and those who gave so generously at the auction, which contributed £510 towards the grand total.
“Congratulations to Wes, Sarah, Josh and Hollie for their win, and to everyone involved with Emma’s Bubble Trust for putting on a great event.”
“The next event is scheduled to take place sometime in autumn 2010.”
Emma’s Bubble Trust was established in early 2008 as a living memory and tribute to Emma. The charity is committed to raising as much money as possible to help alleviate the physical and emotional suffering of teenagers with cancer.
