Charity Day takes Hoebridge Golfers Contributions over £11,000
16 August 2010
Kind-hearted members of Hoebridge Golf Centre have taken their year’s contributions to charity beyond £11,000 following a successful Charity Day.
More than 100 golfers turned out at Hoebridge Golf Centre to help raise funds for Home Start, a voluntary organisation that offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with at least one child under-five in the Woking area.
Teams of four competed in the Charity Day competition with The Burhill Bandits, of David Cook, George Gittins, Jo Gittins and Andrew Millan claiming the top prize with a score of 57.14. The most important total of the day, however, was the £2,500 raised for Home Start.
Following the golf there was a barbecue and a charity auction which included items such as a week at a holiday villa in Portugal, rounds of golf at local clubs, restaurant meals, tickets for Woking Football Club and a golf GPS handset kindly donated by Brewpack and Made4Men.
Lady captain Sonja O’Sullivan thanked everyone for their outstanding generosity and enthusiasm in making the Charity Day such a fun and successful event.
Mike O’Connell, Hoebridge Golf Centre General Manager, added: “It is a truly remarkable effort from all the members to have raised so much for such a good cause, and there is still a way to go till the end of the season, I expect that amount will continue to grow.
“Congratulations to Lady Captain Sonja O’Sullivan and members for staging such a great event, and for their continued hard work in helping Home Start.”
